Ned was born in Morehead City, N.C., on July 18, 1966. He attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, receiving his Bachelor of Science degree in business administration in 1988.

Ned graduated from the University of North Carolina School of Law in 1991, and was admitted to the North Carolina State Bar that year.

Ned is licensed to practice before all North Carolina State Courts, as well as the Federal District Court for the Eastern, Middle and Western Districts of North Carolina. He is a member of the American Bar Association, North Carolina Bar Association, the Eighth Judicial District Bar Association and the Lenoir County Bar Association (president, 1995).

He is chairman of the Real Property Specialization Committee of the North Carolina State Bar. He also served as attorney section representative on the Executive Committee of the North Carolina Land Title Association from 2006 until 2008.

Ned's practice is concentrated in the areas of residential and commercial real estate, title claims litigation, foreclosures, creditors' rights and business law. In 2011, Ned earned recertification as a Board Certified Specialist in real property law-residential transactions by the North Carolina State Board of Legal Specialization.

He serves on the board of directors of the University of North Carolina Law Alumni Association and as an elder at First Presbyterian Church of Kinston.

In recent cases/transactions of note:

• Represented numerous families and individuals buying, selling and leasing residential and commercial properties.

• Filed and prosecuted reformation actions on behalf of a title insurance carrier to reform defective deeds of trust.

• Represented a national lender in a receivership and foreclosure of a multi-family apartment complex.

• Represents a regional lender in multiple commercial and residential foreclosures throughout Eastern North Carolina.

• Represented the Lenoir County Tax Department in more than 250 tax foreclosure actions.

• Served as North Carolina counsel for regional shopping center developer in various acquisition and refinance transactions.

• Represented family members in several partition actions in five Eastern North Carolina counties involving properties ranging in value from $11,000 to well over $1 million.

• Represented an individual property owner in a quiet title action to extinguish the rights of an adverse claimant.
