Patrick D. MacAvoy brings enthusiasm and passion to his work as an advocate on behalf of victims. He began his legal career as a litigator at an insurance defense firm in Philadelphia where he had the unique opportunity straight out of law school to handle his own caseload and work closely with the firm's well-respected principal attorney. Now, as an attorney working at Marciano & MacAvoy, P.C., he finds himself at home representing real people to obtain for them the best results possible. Mr. MacAvoy graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a degree in economics and earned his law degree from Villanova University School of Law. While in law school, he was chosen to be on the Villanova Moot Court Board. An active member, he coached and competed twice in the prestigious Philip C. Jessup International Moot Court Competition where he earned both individual and team awards for excellence in advocacy. As a third-year law student, he was selected to be a professor's teaching assistant and he instructed and evaluated first-year students in legal writing and oral advocacy.
He practices law full time at the firm, but he is also currently enhancing his legal skills as a student in Temple Law School's Masters of Law in Trial Advocacy. At this top-notch program he is working with some of the finest trial lawyers in the country to perfect his litigation tactics and courtroom performance.
Mr. MacAvoy is licensed to practice law in both Pennsylvania and New Jersey. His professional affiliations include admission to the Pennsylvania Bar Association, the Philadelphia Bar Association, and membership in the Philadelphia Trial Lawyers Association, and the Pennsylvania Association of Justice (formerly Pennsylvania Trial Lawyers Association).
Mr. MacAvoy lives in Center City Philadelphia. He is an active volunteer for the Philadelphia Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts, and is a proud big brother in the Big Brothers Big Sisters program.
