Sarah Whitman is an associate in the Litigation Department at WilmerHale. She joined the firm in 2004.

Practice

Ms. Whitman's practice focuses on complex commercial litigation and government investigations. She has experience representing corporate officers and individual employees in criminal proceedings and investigations by various government offices and agencies. She has also represented clients in intellectual property and contract disputes in both state and federal courts.

Prior to joining WilmerHale, Ms. Whitman clerked for the Honorable Marvin J. Aspen of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. While attending law school, Ms. Whitman worked as an intern for the United States Attorney's Office for the Northern District of Illinois. She also served as a judicial extern for the Honorable Robert W. Gettleman of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.

Before beginning her legal studies, Ms. Whitman worked as a paralegal specialist and claims examiner in the Torts Branch of the Civil Division of the United States Department of Justice.

Ms. Whitman is a member of the Boston Bar Association, Massachusetts Bar Association and the American Bar Association.

Honors and Awards

Ms. Whitman received the United States Department of Justice's Special Commendation Award in 1998 and the United States Department of Justice's Special Achievement Award in 1997 and 2000.
