Whitlock, Lynn P.

I was born and raised in Casper, Wyoming. After graduating from Natrona County High School, I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from the University of Wyoming and became a real estate broker and part owner of one of Casper's leading real estate companies.

In 1983, I decided to return to law school. While in law school, I was appointed to be the Student Director of the University of Wyoming Defender Aid Clinic, which provides legal services to Wyoming Penitentiary inmates. This program also writes and argues appellate cases before the Wyoming Supreme Court. As director, I made regular appearances before the Wyoming Supreme Court and supervised other students writing briefs and making oral arguments before the Court.

I graduated from the University of Wyoming Law School in 1986 and moved home to Casper, where I opened my own office. I became a member of the American Bar Association, the Natrona County Bar Association, the American Association for Justice and the Wyoming Trial Lawyers Association. I am also licensed to practice law in all courts of the State of Wyoming, The Federal District Court for the State of Wyoming, the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court.

Martindale Hubble, a peer-reviewed organization that ranks lawyers according to their ability and reputation for ethical conduct, has given me an "AV" rating. That is the highest rating awarded to a lawyer and is based on ratings provided by other lawyers in Wyoming.

I am very active in our community. I have served as chairman of the board of directors for the Casper Area Economic Development Authority and volunteered as a member of the Casper Mountain Ski Patrol. During the last few years, I have written a monthly newspaper column for the Casper Journal that covers a wide range of legal issues. Early in my law career, I tried a number of high-profile criminal and civil cases. These included Federal Court Civil Rights litigation cases that involved sexual harassment, Americans With Disabilities Act violations, and discrimination cases involving age, race, and employment violations.

During the last 15 years, I have specialized primarily in personal injury involving wrongful death cases, car and truck accidents, oil field injuries and medical malpractice.
