An associate in Lieff Cabraser's San Francisco office, Sarah is a determined, skilled, and experienced advocate for theinjured, employees, business owners, and consumers.
In her three years at Lieff Cabraser, Sarah has distinguished herself as an active member of five trial teams, highlighted by the Norvir antitrust litigation. A group of pharmacies alleged that Abbott Laboratories monopolized the market for HIV medicines used in conjunction with Abbott's prescription drug Norvir. Sarah worked extensively on the case’s trial preparation, researching and drafting motions in limine, vior dire questions, jury instructions, and trial stipulations. Trial of the case commenced in February 2011, with Sarah as part of the courtroom team for plaintiffs. Following opening statements and the testimony of several witnesses, the plaintiffs and Abbott entered into a $52 million settlement.
Sarah is also dedicated to achieving justice for individuals injured by defective products, including prescription drugs with dangerous and undisclosed side effects. In the Yaz birth control injury litigation, Sarah was deeply involved in preparing one of the initial cases – a “bell weather’ case” - selected for trial. She deposed fact witnesses and physicians and successfully opposed motions filed by defendant Bayer Corporation to exclude certain damaging scientific evidence. Sarah also assisted our clients outside the courtroom, including accompanying one of Lieff Cabraser’s clients to a scientific advisory committee of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration convened to review the safety of Yaz and other birth control prescription drugs. Our client testified that her 19-year-old daughter died suddenly and tragically while prescribed Yaz.
