I was born in 1948 and grew up in Clinton, IA. I have two younger brothers, one older sister, one younger half-brother and one younger half-sister. My parents divorced in 1958. My mother raised my youngest brother and had two children following the divorce. My father raised me and my other two siblings. It only follows that I now care about child related issues. After graduation from high school in 1966, I served four years in the U.S. Navy, most of which was aboard an aircraft carrier. While in college, I worked each summer as a brakeman and switchman for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad. My practice was in Indianapolis until 1997, at which time I joined the firm of Allen Wellman McNew.
I continue to reside, and our firm maintains an office, in Indianapolis. My wife and I have been married for thirty years and have three children: two sons, ages 24 and 17, and a daughter, age 22. The two oldest have graduated from Purdue University. My practice is primarily in the area of family law, with a particular emphasis on child custody and parenting time issues, both for parents, grandparents, and other non-parents. I have practiced extensively throughout the State of Indiana and have represented numerous clients in other states, having been admitted pro hoc vice, regarding child custody issues, including cases where two states have issued conflicting child custody orders and cases that required me to locate children who had been wrongfully removed from the State of Indiana and whose exact location had not been disclosed.
I have been a private pilot since 1967 and have a 1948 Cessna 170 to assist me in my travels, both personally and professionally.
