Weiss, Norman F

Jim Wegmann originally hails from Texas. He attended the University of Texas and graduated in 1985 with a Bachelors Degree in Political Science. Following his graduation from Texas, Mr. Wegmann was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the US Marine Corps.

After his training at the Officer's Basic School, Mr. Wegmann transferred to Pensacola, Florida where he began his training as a Naval Flight Officer. Upon completion of A6E training, he was designated as A6E Bombardier Navigation and reported to VMA (AW)-121, the Green Knights, who were assigned to Carrier Air Wing-2 aboard the USS Ranger. During his five years as a Naval Flight Officer, Mr. Wegmann obtained his Mission Commander rating, was the winner of the prestigious Norden Bomb Sight Pickle Barrel Award, and obtained a secondary Military Occupational Specialty as an Aviation Maintenance Officer.

In 1991, Mr. Wegmann was accepted into the highly competitive Marine Corps Funded Law Program and began attending Law School at Oklahoma City University. Mr. Wegmann graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1994 and reported to Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island. While at the Depot, Mr. Wegmann served in a variety of billets to include Chief Legal Assistance Officer, Senior Defense Counsel, Special Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island and the Beaufort Naval Hospital. During his term as Chief Legal Assistance Officer, the Law Center of Parris Island received the American Bar Association Military Legal Assistance Officer of the Year Award. In 1997, Mr. Wegmann resigned from the Marine Corps to join Mr. Weidner in private practice.

Mr. Wegmann is the legal advisor for the Beaufort Chamber of Commerce, a National Youth Sports Coach for Beaufort County, on the board of directors for Kiwanis, and a Reserve Officer in the U.S. Marine Corps. He has also taught classes on Wills and Estates at the Technical College of the Low Country and has held seminars on estate planning.

Mr. Wegmann has extensive experience in business and real estate matters and concentrates his practice on real estate transactions, estate planning, incorporations and business law.
