A fourth generation native of Walton County, Florida, Michael L. Weimorts is a life-long resident of Northwest Florida. After receiving his Bachelor's degree in political science in 1986, he completed graduate school and was awarded a Master's degree in Applied Politics in 1989.

Mr. Weimorts worked as a political campaign consultant in the 1988 election cycle, working with six candidates in central Florida with the goal of forming a new coalition in the Florida House of Representatives. Following the election, he worked as Director of Legislative Affairs for a state-wide group of over 2,000 physicians. As a lobbyist for this association, he appeared before House and Senate committees presenting his client's positions on pending medical legislation.

He entered law school at Cumberland School of Law at Samford University in 1990. While attending law school, Mr. Weimorts was a member of the Moot Court Board, Trial Advocacy Board and was selected as a Cordell Hull Fellow. During this time, he was selected from his peers to teach legal research and writing skills to first-year students.

Following his admission to the Florida Bar in 1993, Mr. Weimorts accepted an appointment as Assistant State Attorney in the First Judicial Circuit of Florida. While with the Office of the State Attorney, Mr. Weimorts handled thousands of misdemeanor and felony cases. It was in this position that he amassed his jury trial experience.

During his tenure at the SAO, Mr. Weimorts fulfilled all the requirements for admission to the Alabama Bar and was admitted to practice in 1994.

Seeking new challenges, he resigned as Misdemeanor Division Chief and entered private practice in Destin, Florida. Continuing to practice criminal law, he also began accepting civil litigation cases. Personal injury, real estate, construction and commercial litigation rounded out his practice. Mr. Weimorts tried jury trials in many different cases, from capital criminal trials to civil litigation at which millions of dollars were at stake.

In 1999, he established his own firm in Destin, located in The Plaza at Regatta Bay. Since that time, he has continued his criminal and civil litigation practice with a special emphasis on personal injury and wrongful death claims.

Michael L. Weimorts is admitted to practice in all state courts in both Florida and Alabama as well as the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Florida and the Middle District of Alabama.
