Jennifer Liakos received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Western Michigan University with a major in English. She continued her education at Thomas M. Cooley Law School in Lansing, Michigan, where she graduated cum laude in 1999. During law school, she participated in the Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition and was assistant editor of the Law Review.
Ms. Liakos has concentrated much of her career in the prosecution of cases involving injuries from pharmaceutical drugs. She served as a member of the Plaintiffs' Steering Committee of Paxil Product Liability Litigation (MDL-1574), which involved injuries sustained as clients attempted to discontinue use of SSRI medication. She currently dedicates her entire practice to the many families she represents whose children were born with heart defects, other congenital malformations, or PPHN and whose mothers’ took SSRI antidepressants during their pregnancy. She has published two articles on this subject: Birth Defects and Other Threats to Mom and Baby Associated with Paxil, Mealey’s Litigation Report: Antidepressant Report, October 2006, and Antidepressants During Pregnancy: Drug Companies Tip the Scale, Law.com, February, 2007.
Ms. Liakos is admitted to the California Bar and is also admitted to practice in the United States District Court, Central, Northern, Eastern and Southern Districts of California as well as the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. She is a member of the American Association for Justice (AAJ), Consumer Attorneys of California and the Los Angeles County Bar Association. In 2007, she was chosen by her peers as a Southern California Super Lawyer - Rising Star.
