Jim Wamsley represents companies in high-technology patent infringement litigation in courts throughout the United States. His cases frequently focus on electronics or computer-related products and technologies such as digital cameras, cellular telephones, semiconductors, televisions, computer interfaces, and software-based systems.
Jim has recently represented companies such as Sprint Nextel and Eastman Kodak in a series of complex patent infringement cases involving large numbers of asserted patents or parties. For example, Jim led the representation of Kodak in three cases against a competitor in the digital camera business in which more than 50 patents were at issue. That case was resolved by settlement after a three-day Markman claims construction hearing and a month of depositions taken in Japan. He also successfully led the defense of more than 35 companies sued in the Eastern District of Texas in a case in which the patentee stipulated to a judgment of noninfringement after the court issued a claim construction ruling favorable to the defendants.
Jim is a member of the AIPLA and has been a speaker at the annual meeting of the Association of Corporate Patent Counsel.
