Andrea R. Levy is a 2005 Graduate of Suffolk University Law School in Boston, Massachusetts where she graduated Cum Laude and is a member of the Phi Delta Phi Legal Fraternity, Rhenquist Inn. While in law school Ms. Levy worked for the Family Law Advocacy Project providing legal services for indigent clients in the Probate and Family Court in Suffolk County. She also worked for the Juvenile Justice Center where she assisted in the representation of juveniles in criminal cases. Ms. Levy assisted in implementing and organizing a Teen Dating Domestic Violence Clinic in Jamaica Plain, providing information and help to teens in various Community Centers throughout the Boston area, in the area of domestic violence.
Prior to going to law school Ms. Levy received her Masters Degree in Developmental Psychology in 2002 from Brandeis University. While working on her degrees Ms. Levy did extensive research and work in area of domestic violence. Her Masters Thesis dealt with the Intergenerational Cycle of Violence. She additionally has done research on the prosecution of child sexual abuse cases, intra-familial versus extra-familial childhood sexual abuse, physical and sexual abuse, and the long terms effects of physical abuse and domestic violence.
Ms. Levy was an Assistant District Attorney for the Middle District, Worcester County. While in the District Attorney’s Office she handled prosecutions ranging from attempted murder to operating under the influence of alcohol. As a prosecutor, Ms. Levy gained invaluable practical trial experience while heading the Domestic Violence Unit for over three years and prosecuting adults in both the District and Superior Courts. Ms. Levy represented the Commonwealth in numerous jury trials in addition to presenting cases before the Grand Jury. Prior to joining the District Attorney’s Office Ms. Levy served as a Judicial Law Clerk for all of the Judges in the Probate and Family Courts in Worcester, Plymouth and Middlesex Counties.
With Ms. Levy’s experience in criminal law and domestic relations, it was a natural transition for her to join O’Connor and Ryan; a firm with a mantra of aggressive trial practice in all courts of the Commonwealth including the U.S. District Court. While with O’Connor and Ryan, she has appeared and advocated on behalf of clients with criminal matters ranging from first degree murder to shoplifting. Additionally, she has worked on the defense of cases in the Federal Court. Ms. Levy has extensive practice in the Probate and Family Court and welcomes the challenges of difficult and contentious litigation over the important issues of child custody, support and the division of marital assets. Always available to her clients, Ms. Levy prides herself on attention to detail and preparation for the courtroom.
