Chad S. Levin joined Robbins, Kelly, Patterson, & Tucker (RKPT) in 2009 and brings substantial experience in the areas of estate planning, estate and trust administration, elder law, business and transactional law, and tax law.
Mr. Levin maintains a diverse estate planning practice working with individuals and families in the preparation and implementation of wills, revocable trusts, powers of attorney, and advance health care directives, as well as sophisticated estate tax reduction strategies involving irrevocable trusts, intra-family gifting programs, generation-skipping trusts, and charitable planning.
He also represents executors, trustees, and beneficiaries with respect to the administration of estates and trusts, including probate administration, management and disposition of closely-held business and real estate interests, preparation of estate, inheritance, and fiduciary income tax returns, and guardianship matters.
Mr. Levin has developed a particular focus in elder law and special needs planning. He advises elderly clients and their families regarding estate planning, probate avoidance, long-term care planning, Medicaid eligibility, and related tax issues. He also designs and implements special needs trusts for parents with disabled children and disabled individuals who wish to preserve eligibility for public benefits such as Medicaid and SSI.
Mr. Levin has substantial experience counseling small and medium sized businesses and their owners in a variety of planning and operational areas, including determining the most efficient legal and tax structure, entity formation, risk management, regulatory compliance, contract drafting and review, buy-sell agreements, succession planning, executive compensation and employee benefits, and stock and asset transactions (including purchases, sales, mergers, and reorganizations). He also is able to draw on other attorneys at RKPT who concentrate in employment law, real estate and construction law, and business and commercial litigation.
Mr. Levin brings a tax focus to all of his work and frequently advises individuals and businesses on strategies to reduce exposure to estate and income taxes. He also has experience assisting clients with tax collection and controversy matters with the IRS and state and local taxing authorities, and in forming and obtaining tax-exempt status for non-profit entities.
Mr. Levin is a 1994 graduate of the University of Cincinnati College of Law and is licensed to practice in Ohio and Kentucky and before the U.S. Tax Court. He is a member of the Ohio State Bar Association (member Elder Law and Estate Planning, Trust & Probate Committees), Cincinnati Bar Association, Kentucky Bar Association (member Elder Law Committee and Past Chair of the Tax Section), and Northern Kentucky Bar Association (member Business and Tax Committee and member and past chair of Estate Planning & Probate Committee). He is also a member of the Cincinnati Estate Planning Council and a member and past president of the Estate Planning Council of Northern Kentucky.
Mr. Levin is a native of Cincinnati and resides in Deerfield Township. Prior to joining RKPT, he was with The Horwitz Law Firm in Crescent Springs, Kentucky for 10 years.
