Marshall W. Waller is certified as a Family Law Specialist through the Board of Legal Specialization of the State Bar of California. A Certified Family Law Specialist must pass an extensive written examination in the subject area, be approved by a peer review process and show proficiency in this area by demonstrating experience handling a sufficient number of family law cases with varying degrees of complexity. Continuing education is required to maintain this specialty. Marshall Waller has garnered a top AV rating* from Martindale Hubble, the premier attorney rating system in the nation. Marshall Waller was admitted to practice before all the courts in the State of California, the United States Federal Court, and the Court of Appeals in 1981 and, in 1982, the United States Tax Court and Court of Claims. Mr. Waller has been in private practice since 1981, he is a director and shareholder of Feinberg & Waller, a professional corporation.
Marshall W. Waller has gained a reputation as a dynamic and entertaining speaker and has spoken nationally and locally to trade, civic, and private organizations. He has been featured as a lawyer/spokesperson in a national television and print advertising campaign for Gateway Computers. He has been a legal commentator for local television news stations. He has been featured on the Dr. Phil Show where Dr. Phil McGraw noted that Marshall Waller was the "best of the best." Marshall Waller taught family law as a professor of law for over sixteen years and has written a University-level textbook in the area of California Family Law, published by Aspen Publishing, currently in its fifth edition. He has also written a book designed for use by professionals and lay persons alike titled Essentials of California Family Law. He has published a study guide for applicants wishing to become certified family law specialists.
Marshall W. Waller graduated with Highest Honors from California Polytechnic State University at San Luis Obispo (Cal Poly) with a B.A. in Political Science. While at Cal Poly, he was selected for membership in the prestigious Phi Kappa Phi, the oldest and largest collegiate honor society dedicated to the recognition and promotion of academic excellence in all fields of higher education. Marshall Waller earned his Juris Doctorate from Loyola Law School of Los Angeles, California. While at Loyola Law School, he received academic recognition for his placement in the class standing and was also the recipient of the American Jurisprudence award for excellence in Corporations. After graduating from Loyola Law School, he continued his education at the University of San Diego where he received a diploma in the field of Taxation.
Marshall Waller serves as a volunteer mediator for the Los Angeles County Superior Court's Family Law division and has volunteered as a Judge Pro Tempore. He is an appointed member of the Los Angeles County Bar Association Family Law Section Executive Committee and serves on the Los Angeles Regional Standing Committee of the Family Law Section of the California State Bar. He has worked with the Legislative Committee of the San Fernando Valley Bar Association and is an active member of that Association as well as the Los Angeles County and Beverly Hills Bar Associations. In addition to his busy law practice and teaching schedule, Mr. Waller is actively involved in his community. He participates in numerous other volunteer organizations including serving as the Mock Trial coach for Oaks Christian high school and as a legal merit badge counselor for the Boy Scouts of America. He has served on the Board of Directors of the Pacific Lodge Youth Services, a residential placement and rehabilitation facility for juvenile criminal offenders. He is a past president of the Cellar Club, a prominent Beverly Hills based social club originally formed in the 1960's.
