Marc E. Leibman is a partner in the litigation practice of Kaufman, Semeraro, Bern, Deutsch & Leibman, LLP. Mr. Leibman is an experienced litigator with an extensive background in Federal criminal law, New Jersey state criminal law, municipal land use and zoning law, commercial litigation and tax appeals.
Mr. Leibman heads up the firm’s criminal law practice, which handles a variety of criminal matters in both state and Federal court. Representative matters include white collar crimes, narcotics cases, sex crimes and arson. In addition, to negotiating and litigating plea bargains on behalf of his clients, Mr. Leibman has also held various appointments. In 2004, Mr. Leibman was appointed by the United States District Court of New Jersey to represent criminal defendants in Federal Court on serious federal offenses. Mr. Leibman also served as a municipal prosecutor for the Borough of Leonia.
Aside from criminal law matters, Mr. Leibman devotes a considerable amount of his practice to land use and zoning matters. Mr. Leibman serves as Board Attorney to zoning and planning boards in Hoboken, Paramus, Fair Lawn, Dumont, River Vale and Woodcliff Lake. Mr. Leibman also represents individual and corporate clients before various zoning and planning boards throughout Bergen and Hudson counties.
Additionally, Mr. Leibman has experience in a wide range of commercial litigation matters which he handles from inception to trial. Mr. Leibman also assists clients in real estate tax appeals throughout New Jersey. He has handled both complex commercial litigation property tax appeals and individual residential tax litigation.
Prior to joining Kaufman, Semeraro, Bern, Deutsch & Leibman, LLP, Mr. Leibman was an Associate with Willis & Young, P.C. Mr. Leibman received his B.A. from Franklin & Marshall College in 1993 and his J.D. from Seton Hall University in 1996. Mr. Leibman is admitted to the Bars of the States of New York and New Jersey and is also admitted to practice in the Federal District Court of New Jersey and the Third Circuit Court of Appeals. Mr. Leibman has been named a Rising Star Criminal Attorney by New Jersey Monthly Magazine in 2006, 2007, and 2008.
