Varner, Rodney

Kimberly was born and raised in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She attended the University of South Dakota in Vermillion where she received her Bachelor's degree, with honors, in Criminal Justice and Spanish, with a minor in Sociology. Kimberly is a member of many honor societies, including Phi Beta Kappa. During her undergraduate studies, Kimberly participated in the National Student Exchange Program and studied at the University of North Carolina-Wilmington for a semester.

Kimberly was awarded her law degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln College of Law in 2004. She graduated from the Litigation Skills Program of Concentrated Study after she completed a course of study in litigation and developed skills, values, and doctrines necessary to be an effective and competent litigator. During her time in law school, Kimberly was an active member of the Nebraska Moot Court Board. She was a semi-finalist in the 2003 Thomas Stinson Allen Moot Court Competition and received an award for the Best Brief and Best Senior Brief.  Kimberly also served as Co-Coordinator of the 2004 Thomas Stinson Allen Moot Court Competition. Her commitment and involvement with oral advocacy was recognized when she received the honor of being accepted to the Order of the Barristers. Kimberly also served as a legal research and writing problem writer for the first-year law students. She was Treasurer for the Equal Justice Society, Recruitment Chair for Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity, a First-Year Orientation Leader, a member of Women's Law Caucus, a member of the Student Bar Association, a College of Law Student Ambassador, as well as involved with the first-year Client Counseling Competition.

After receiving her law degree, Kimberly joined the Johnson, Heidepriem, Janklow, Abdallah & Johnson law firm in Sioux Falls, South Dakota as an associate attorney and remained employed with that firm until September 1, 2008, at which time she joined the Janklow Law Firm, Prof. L.L.C. in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, where she continues to be employed.

Kimberly is a member of the South Dakota Bar and the South Dakota Bar Associations as well as the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit and U.S. District Court, District of South Dakota.
