Tahlia Townsend has been an associate in Wiggin and Dana's litigation department since 2007. She is a member of the firm's Franchise and Distribution, Appellate and Complex Legal Issues, and Art and Museum Law practice groups. She has represented franchisors, universities, corporations, and individuals in a wide variety of disputes in federal and state trial and appellate courts, and before arbitral panels. Tahlia has defended franchisors in disputes with franchisees and area developers, a university in disputes over title to valuable art and artifacts, a U.S. citizen in lawsuits challenging military detention without charge, and corporations in employment discrimination and product liability actions.

Prior to joining Wiggin and Dana, Tahlia was Law Clerk to Chief Judge Robert N. Chatigny, United States District Court in Hartford (2006-2007) and Law Clerk to Judge Mark R. Kravitz, United States District Court in New Haven (2005-2006).

Tahlia received her J.D. from the Yale Law School, where she was Editor-in-Chief of the Human Rights and Development Law Journal, and received the 2004 Chubb Prize for excellence in legal draftsmanship. Before attending law school, Tahlia obtained a B.Sc. Honors in Natural Sciences with Physics and Chemistry from the Open University in the United Kingdom, and conducted research at the Dependable Systems Laboratory in the Computer Science Department at Carnegie Mellon University.

Tahlia has lived in Tanzania, Hungary, and Belgium, and speaks Hungarian, French, and German.
