Hugh Kress' practice involves patent prosecution and related transactions usually involving highly technical and complex technology in the computer, semiconductor, electronics, and nanotechnology fields; trademark procurement and protection; copyright registration and protection; a variety of Internet-related areas including domain name procurement and protection, and trademark and domain name disputes; patent validity and infringement analyses; and computer software and patent licensing.
His prosecution experience includes preparation and prosecution of over 400 patent applications relating to technologies ranging from implantable medical devices to semiconductor architecture and fabrication.
Mr. Kress' patent litigation experience includes all aspects of discovery, trial preparation, and trial.
Preparation and prosecution of U.S. and international patent applications in a broad spectrum of technologies, including semiconductor architecture and processing, nanotechnology, telecommunications, software, and implantable medical devices Post-issuance patent proceedings, including reissue and reexamination applications Resolution of trademark/domain name disputes, brokering the acquisition of domain name registrations and trademark rights for Internet start-up companies Representation in large, multi-patent cases involving computer memories, microprocessor circuitry, semiconductor manufacturing, medical device technology, and telecommunications Prelitigation analyses including rendering patent infringement and validity opinions, general patent portfolio review, development of licensing strategies, and software development and licensing agreements Analysis and preparation of the technical aspects of patent cases, including the development of validity, infringement, and enforceability issues for discovery and trial Preparation of demonstrative exhibits for trial and hearings; preparation of both fact and expert witnesses for deposition and trial All aspects of document production, written discovery, and deposition issues
