Tracy earned her bachelor’s degree in International Business from the University of Texas at Austin in 1984.  In 1989, she earned her law degree from University of Houston and was admitted to practice law in Texas (currently inactive) that same year.  She was admitted to practice in Colorado in 2009. 

Following in her father’s footsteps of public service, from 1989 until 2001, Tracy worked as an Assistant District Attorney in the Harris County District Attorney’s Office in Houston, Texas.  While there, she handled large misdemeanor and felony court dockets and was the lead prosecutor in roughly 100 jury trials involving a wide range of offenses, including drug trafficking, fraud, DUI, theft, assault, sexual assault, sexual offenses involving children, burglary, robbery, aggravated robbery and murder. 

In 2001, she accepted a position with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and moved to Denver.  From 2001 to 2011, she conducted investigations and aided in civil litigation of cases involving  investment fraud, including Ponzi schemes, broker-dealer fraud, and insider trading.

In 2011, Tracy opened her own law practice, The Tirey Law Firm LLC, dedicated to helping families and seniors through transition, where she concentrates her practice in the areas of divorce  and elder mediation, elder Law, estate planning and criminal defense.

American Bar Association (ABA) and the ABA’s Family Law and Real Property, Trust and Estates Sections; the Colorado Bar Association (CBA) and the Family law, Elder law, Trusts and Estates and Criminal Law Sections and the Probate mediation subcommittee; the Colorado Criminal Defense Bar; the Adams/Broomfield County Bar Association The National Association of Elder Law Attorneys (NEALA);  the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals (IACP); Colorado Collaborative Divorce Professionals (CCDP); Boulder Interdisciplinary Counsel (BIDC); and the Mediation Association of Colorado (theMAC). Tracy has also completed the CBA 40 hour mediation course and CCDP Level One collaborative law training.  

Other interests and activities
Tracy and her husband are both active in mentoring youth in the Denver metro area. Tracy has been a mentor for Friends for Youth, a Denver organization dedicated to mentoring youth in Colorado’s foster and juvenile justice systems. Her husband mentors through Save Our Youth.  Tracy and her family are avid skiers and enjoy many of the outdoor activities that Colorado has to offer.  She also enjoys travel, reading, languages, and spending time with a very diverse international group of friends.  While she would not claim fluency in any language but English, she has studied and is somewhat proficient in conversational Spanish and German.
