"It is very rewarding to be able to make a difference in the lives of our clients when they're going through difficult times."
To Rebecca Tillery, representing a client in divorce requires her to utilize everything she knows about the law, including elements of real estate and tax law and sometimes even criminal law.
"Family law covers the gamut," she says. The opportunity to stretch her legal muscles in support of her clients caused her to choose this practice, and she enjoys the variety that each day brings.
She is especially focused on complex property cases that tap her financial know-how and involve the challenge and strategy of courtroom action.
A native of Plano, Ms. Tillery earned a bachelor of business administration in finance at the University of Texas at Austin in 2003. She earned her Juris Doctor, Cum Laude, from the SMU Dedman School of Law in 2007. While in law school, she was a member of the Order of the Barristers as well as Articles Editor of the SMU Law Review.
Competing on the National Criminal Procedure Moot Court Team, she earned second place and won for the Best Appellant Brief. She was also second place in the Client Counseling Competition.
Ms. Tillery was a University Scholar and a Dean's List Scholar. She has written two articles for the Journal of Air Law and Commerce and co-authored five articles on family law since graduating from law school.
Ms. Tillery joined KoonsFuller in 2007 as an Associate. "At this firm," she says, "every case gets 100% dedication from the attorneys and staff. No two cases get treated identically. There is enough talent and experience among the attorneys so that every client gets the attention to detail he or she deserves."
