Laura Thomas is an experienced litigator, whose practice focuses on complex commercial litigation and intellectual property disputes. She has represented financial institutions in cases arising from allegations of fraud and breach of contract in both state and federal courts. She also has represented clients in patent disputes in a variety of fields, including medical devices and electronics.
Laura has counseled clients in prelitigation, trial, and mediation settings. She was part of a team that won dismissal of approximately $4.2 billion in claims against 430 named lending institutions in an action arising from the bankruptcy of Adelphia Communications. She also has participated in a three-month patent infringement trial involving medical devices and breach of contract claims, which resulted in a mulitmillion dollar verdict in favor of her client.
Laura is a member of the Bay Area IP Inn of Court and of the Bar Association of San Francisco. She was a panel member in a presentation to the Loan Syndications and Trading Association regarding recent litigation involving distressed assets.
