LaShawn Thomas, Esq., a graduate of Florida International University College of Law, is an Attorney with Miami Entertainment Law Group, an Entertainment, Arts & Media law firm with offices in beautiful Miami Gardens, Florida. Ms. Thomas works with a full range of clients throughout the entertainment industry; her clients include record labels, concert promoters, musical artists, composers, actors and film producers. Ms. Thomas has been instrumental in the production of several motion pictures, television, and digital media projects. Ms. Thomas has represented a number of producers of live concert tours and has provided assistance in the drafting of live performance agreements, sponsorship packages, and rights acquisition. Ms. Thomas has represented a number of record labels and has played a vital role in structuring these companies from setting their corporate structure to protecting their intellectual property and assisting with talent acquisition. Ms. Thomas has also represented artists and labels in the negotiation of music contracts (recording, publishing, license, merchandising and distribution agreements) and obtained photography, music, and artwork copyright clearances on their behalf. Ms. Thomas has represented numerous employers and employees in obtaining temporary nonimmigrant visas for fashion models of national and international acclaim (H-1B3), individuals with extraordinary ability in the sciences, arts, education, business, or athletics (O-1) and athletes and entertainment groups (P-1). While attending law school, Ms. Thomas worked with Black Entertainment Television's (BET) Business and Legal Affairs in the production of several televised programs including the annual Spring Bling broadcast. Ms. Thomas also worked as a Law Clerk for the Honorable Judge Victor Tobin, former Chief Judge in and for Broward County, Florida.
