James Matthew Thompson was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, on June 18, 1969. Mr. Thompson graduated from Dartmouth College with an A.B. (cum laude) in 1992, and from the University of Oklahoma College of Law with a J.D. (with honors) in 1995. In 2003, Mr. Thompson received an LL.M. from Harvard Law School. While at the University of Oklahoma College of Law, Mr. Thompson served as Editor-in-Chief of the Oklahoma Law Review and received the Harry Alley-Leroy Allen Prize for best Case Note and the Maurice H. Merrill Scholarship. Mr. Thompson is a member of the American Law and Economics Association, the American Psychology-Law Society, and the Dartmouth Lawyers Association. He is also a former member of The Luther L. Bohanon American Inn of Court XXII. Mr. Thompson has published various articles on products liability, oil and gas law, and Oklahoma water law. Mr. Thompson's practice is concentrated in civil litigation and oil and gas law.
