As a Marine prosecutor stationed at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, South Carolina, Jeff was responsible for hundreds of criminal prosecutions and investigations which helped him prepare for a career of defending both military personnel and civilians charged with misdemeanor and felony offenses.

After Parris Island, Jeff deployed with 1st Battalion, 25th Marines to a combat zone in Fallujah, Iraq, in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. As the legal advisor for over 1,500 U.S. Marines, Jeff advised infantry unit commanders on a broad spectrum of issues from military justice to laws of armed conflict.

Upon returning from deployment, Jeff reported to Camp Pendleton, California where he served as Senior Defense Counsel in the busiest trial shop in the Marine Corps. For over three years, he was consistently in the courtroom fighting for the rights of Marines and sailors accused of offenses ranging from drug crimes, sex crimes, murder, fraud, computer crimes, assaults, law of armed conflict violations, and many more. Jeff was hand-selected to defend clients in several high profile cases, to include a Marine Battalion Commander in a highly-publicized war crimes case out of Haditha, Iraq in 2005, as well as a Marine charged with the murder of an Iraqi Army soldier in 2007.
