Matthew King joined Denner Pellegrino, LLP in 2010 bringing with him 26 years of diverse legal experience including that of litigation partner and lead counsel in previously held private practice positions and as an Assistant District Attorney.
Matt has focused much of his litigation to the areas of medical malpractice, criminal defense and first party insurance claims. He has substantial experience in the area of insurance defense, having worked as lead attorney for major carriers including, among others, Travelers, CNA, One Beacon, Merrimack, Plymouth Rock, Hanover and Cambridge, handling first and third party liability claims, subrogation, coverage disputes and reference proceedings.
Matt enjoys his current work in medical malpractice insuring his clients of the best representation possible for injuries sustained by them in their interface with the medical community. He has developed a reputation for his ability to compassionately represent his clients while maintaining appropriate legal strategies. His success in medical malpractice includes major cases resulting in recoveries in excess of $1 million dollars. He has litigated cases in many areas of medicine including: oncology; obstetrics and gynecology; radiology; neuroradiology; infections disease; internal medicine; emergency medicine; gastric by-pass; anesthesiology; general surgery; orthopedic surgery; neurosurgery; vascular surgery; oral and maxillofacial surgery; general dentistry; plastic surgery, dermatology, adverse drug reactions, and podiatry. He has also litigated cases involving pediatric and geriatric medicine and nursing home care.
Matt has tried hundreds of cases in the Commonwealth’s superior and district courts and has also tried cases in the United States District Court. He has been called upon to litigate cases in other states, including Vermont and Arizona.
Matt’s criminal defense trials have included charges of murder, rape, indecent assault and battery, and racketeering and many charges related to the sale and consumption of drugs and alcohol.
Matt received his Juris Doctor from Stetson University College of Law, St. Petersburg, FLA in 1984 where he served on Law Review, as Moot Court Vice-President, and in the National Appellate Advocacy Competition. He did his undergraduate work at University of Massachusetts at Amherst majoring in Journalism/English and earning a B.A. with honors in 1981. He is a member of the Massachusetts Bar, the Federal Bar, Hampden County Bar Association, Massachusetts Bar Association, and the Massachusetts Academy of Trial attorneys.
