John Tanski counsels individuals and businesses throughout all phases of litigation, from pre-lawsuit investigations to post-trial appeals. His practice focuses on defending against allegations of malfeasance and misconduct, not only in the context of government investigations, but also with respect to claims of unfair and deceptive trade practices, bad faith, fraud, and breach of fiduciary duty.
Mr. Tanski's experience includes defending Connecticut's largest municipality against contract claims arising from a failed billion-dollar waterfront development project; representing international pharmaceutical companies in contract disputes and intellectual property litigation; defending a local health system against trademark infringement claims; representing insurance industry clients in connection with multimillion-dollar individual claims and class action lawsuits; enforcing loan and guaranty agreements on behalf of lenders; and counseling both criminal defendants and crime victims in connection with state and federal prosecutions.
Mr. Tanski also has significant appellate experience, having contributed to successful merits briefs and amicus briefs filed in federal and state courts across the country, including the United States Supreme Court. Before entering private practice, he served as a law clerk to the Honorable Paul J. Kelly, Jr. of the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit.
