David Yung Ho Kim is an up and coming attorney, actor, and musician who comes from an eclectic background of experiences in the areas of business, education, law and entertainment. While attending the University of California, Berkeley as a Regents’ & Chancellor’s Scholar, he served as one of twenty elected senators for a campus of 30,000 students and contributed to the campus and community through his positions on various campus and local committees. After completing his thesis on The Korean American Church and Making of Nation-Church-State: 1910-1945, and graduating from Berkeley with cum laude honors, he served as the acting director for a highly successful learning center in Santa Clara, CA, and then consequently moved on to study law at the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law (Yeshiva), the nation’s premiere Jewish institution.

While at Cardozo, David served as the Jewish school’s first Asian American student body president, making notable achievements that included restructuring the student government, founding an annual bookswap, and reconnecting students with school officials, and the law school with local and national legal organizations.

In addition to his legal education and involvement with the school, David honed his legal and business experience by interning at the Webman Group in New York City, a music publishing company and artists’ rights advocacy group, where he reviewed old and new publishing contracts, and verified client Artists’ record label contracts to their audits. After interning here, he then moved on to intern in the Tax & Bankruptcy Litigation Division in the New York City Law Department, where he worked on property tax valuation research. While interning here, he also briefly served as the Executive Assistant to Woo S. Rhee, Senior Vice President of JYP USA, the U.S. branch of JYP Entertainment, which is internationally recognized as one of the “Big 3” record labels in South Korea, most known for having created artists like Rain, Wonder Girls and 2PM.

David also has experience in corporate and intellectual property legal work by working as a research assistant to Professor Robert Brauneis, a renown scholar in the area of intellectual property, cross-checking and indexing Intellectual Property Protection of Fact Based Works: Copyright and Its Alternatives; summering at Lee & Ko, the number two law firm in South Korea, where he researched corporate and intellectual property licensing law and reviewed joint venture and share subscription agreements; and then studying abroad at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, where he took courses in international corporate and intellectual property law.

After moving to Los Angeles, David clerked in the Public Integrity Division of the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, where he worked on cases like the City of Bell case involving Robert Rizzo and other city officials, and then served as an associate attorney at the Law Offices of Paul P. Cheng, litigating a variety of civil cases, ranging from labor and employment cases to fraud and eviction cases.

While being actively involved in his legal profession, David also has experience in acting in a web series, in which he is also a leading co-star.  He was also recently cast for a minor role in a new Hollywood action movie, where filming is scheduled to begin in late 2012. When he’s not working, David loves to run, work out, sing, play the piano and interact and socialize with people from all kinds of background. He loves God and the beauty of true life.
