Rahia Khan Mir recently joined Hankin Patent Law in January 2013. Rahia assists with Patent, Trademark, and Copyright litigation matters, including advising clients on their intellectual property rights and prosecuting patent, trademark, and copyright applications. Rahia’s passion for art, literature and fashion drives her to help creative clients secure and protect their intellectual property.
Prior to joining Hankin Patent Law, Rahia has held externships at various studios including Sony Pictures Entertainment, NBCUniversal and E! Entertainment where she gained valuable experience negotiating and drafting above-the-line talent and licensing agreements as well as advising clients on issues of defamation, copyright infringement and fair use. Rahia also gained helpful knowledge in international intellectual property issues while externing at IM Global, an International Film and Television Sales and Distribution Company.
While at Southwestern Law School, Rahia channeled her passion for negotiating into winning 2nd place at Southwestern Law School's 2011 Upper-Division Negotiations Honors Competition. She also served as the Managing and Layout Editor of the school newspaper, The Commentator, maintaining a strong focus on the Intellectual Property Column with the objective of keeping the Southwestern Law School community apprised of critical issues and trends in IP Law. Rahia also traveled to Brussels, Belgium to meet with the attorneys at the Motion Picture Association of America, Inc. (MPAA) to learn about international copyright and anti-piracy laws as part of Southwestern Law School’s International Entertainment and Media Law Program. As part of the Program, Rahia studied international art law and international media law under seasoned intellectual property attorneys at the University of London.
As an undergraduate, Rahia actively participated in the Student Alumni Association, serving as Executive Director of the Marketing and Communications Committee and as Executive Director of the Career Networking Committee, where she spearheaded complex marketing campaigns, produced advertising material, and executed several high-profile networking events for UCLA students and alumni.
In her free time, Rahia enjoys trying out new and creative recipes, photography, and spending quality time with her friends and family.
