Mr. Talman focuses on civil litigation with emphasis on business-related litigation, including complex shareholder, contract, employment, discrimination, unfair competition, as well as personal injury litigation. He has been the senior litigator of the firm for many years. He has handled precedent-setting trials and appeals in cases involving Subsidized Elderly Housing, Unfair Competition, the Consumer Protection Act, Restrictive Covenants, Lien Priority, Disability Insurance Coverage and Life Insurance Coverage.
Mr. Talman is a graduate of Harvard College, cum laude, in 1954, and Harvard Law School in 1957.
Mr. Talman has served as a Hearing Officer and a Commissioner for the Board of Bar Overseers and is authorized to serve as a Master, Receiver and Guardian ad Litem in the Superior Court Division of the Massachusetts Trial Courts. He has also served as an Arbitrator for the AAA, Mediator on the Mediation Committee of the Federal District Court for District of Massachusetts, Conciliator for the Worcester District Court, Mediator for the Worcester Multi-Door Courthouse, Guardian ad litem and Court-appointed Master for the Worcester Probate & Family Court Department, and Chairman of the By-Law Committee of the Worcester County Bar Association. He has also served as a director of privately-held corporations, trustee of privately-held trusts, and in other fiduciary capacities.
His avocation is wilderness paddling, and he has published articles in the Worcester Telegram, Appalachia, and Eastern Coastal Kayaking about his wilderness paddling journeys in distant places.
