Sandy Swartzberg is an attorney at the Metro Milwaukee Office in Brookfield. He focuses his law practice on closely held businesses and all issues related to family-owned enterprises. He is skilled in mergers and acquisitions, business structures, and business agreements of all kinds.

When a client comes for help, Mr. Swartzberg scrutinizes symptoms to diagnose the real problem and then looks for a creative solution. He has a unique ability to absorb information while seemingly distracted, only to astound clients with an astute analysis at the end. His ultimate goal is to keep an eye on what is best and profitable for the client, and he starts by asking the question, "Is this best solved by legal means to make the business or family better, or is there another way?" This reflects Mr. Swartzberg's enduring belief in preventative and holistic law.

A former court commissioner for Milwaukee County, Mr. Swartzberg is a barrister in the American Inns of Court Leander Foley chapter, and a member of the State Bar of Wisconsin sections on family law and corporate law. Mr. Swartzberg's acumen includes serving as general counsel for a national trades association, and as a director of four for-profit businesses and three nonprofit businesses. Additionally, he is a member of the CEO Roundtable and the Council of Small Business Executives. These activities reflect his dedication, not only to being a better lawyer, but also a better advisor to businesses. His goal is to keep businesses working in harmony and earning money, as well as to keep them out of disputes.

A former instructor of legal research at an area college, Mr. Swartzberg is often sought as a speaker and lecturer on business and family law topics. Active in numerous community groups, Mr. Swartzberg was recognized as Kiwanis Man of the Year. He is a director and founder of the Summit Consulting Group, which focuses on businesses.

Mr. Swartzberg has been a guest on a local Milwaukee cable show "Focus on Diversity." He is an authority on information technology, software and e-commerce law and has been quoted in Business Watch. For more information on Mr. Swartzberg, see his profile from Wisconsin Law Journal, October 2008.

Mr. Swartzberg's passion for business may be, in part, due to a genetic code. He comes from generations of successful businessmen. His grandfather won the first million dollar verdict awarded in New York; an uncle was the founder of Dorsay perfume company and the Lincoln Center. Mr. Swartzberg himself was born in New York City. When he was 10, he moved with his family to India where he learned the local dialect (as well as how to deliver a baby in a cab). Eventually, he found his way to Madison where he graduated from college with top honors.

With an admittedly better aim in courts than on golf courses, Mr. Swartzberg also digs into politics, art galleries, and white-water rafting, as well as issues covering technology, science, and health.
