Rick Keating has been actively engaged in his bankruptcy practice for over 27 years.  Rick was born in Bryant, Arkansas and came to Acadiana in 1973 to attend the University of Southwestern Louisiana.  Rick was a member of the Ragin Cajun football team, graduated from USL in 1977 and worked locally for several years.  He attended the LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center and received his Juris Doctor in 1984.  Rick first practiced law in Baton Rouge and in 1986 joined the Opelousas firm of Sandoz, Sandoz and Schiff practicing in its bankruptcy department. In 1991, Rick was a founding partner in the law of firm of Sandoz, Schiff, Keating & Watson in Opelousas, Louisiana.  In September 1995 Rick formed D. Patrick Keating, APLC and practiced law as a sole practitioner, with an emphasis on bankruptcy matters, until October 2007.  In October 2007, decided to merge his practice with Galloway & Jefcoat, with Rick taking over all bankruptcy matters for the firm.  In October 2010, Rick, once again elected to start a new law firm forming The Keating Firm located in Lafayette, Louisiana.

Rick is currently the Vice-President of the Southwest Louisiana Bankruptcy Bar Association and is a member of the Louisiana and St. Landry Parish Bar Associations.  Rick is admitted to practice in all State and Federal Courts in Louisiana and in the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Rick has developed a wealth of knowledge and experience in all aspects of bankruptcy.  Rick has represented individual and business Debtors in Chapter 7, 13 and 11 cases.  Rick has also represented creditors, trustees and third parties in bankruptcy related matters.
