Katherine Stern represents companies and individuals in matters involving international law and human rights, constitutional law, publication and journalism, including defamation and copyright claims, and claims against federal, state, and municipal agencies. She also advises on development of in-house compliance programs, ethical sourcing, and supplier codes of conduct.
Katherine's recent clients include Delta Asia Financial Group, Macy's, Maverick Capital, Royal Bank of Scotland, SAP, Spanx, and WorldSpace International. She also has represented the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and Human Rights First as amici in the enemy combatant cases before the Supreme Court. She is currently representing the artist Shepard Fairey in a fair use copyright case, and she is assisting a paralyzed prisoner in an excessive force claim against the Baltimore Police Department.
Before attending law school, Katherine was a junior fellow at the Harvard Society of Fellows and was assistant professor of world literature at the University of Alaska Fairbanks.
