Lisa D. Stern is a partner with Hertz Schram and is a member of the firm’s Family Law Group.  Ms. Stern’s practice focuses on all aspects of family law with a special focus on child custody and visitation both during the divorce process and post judgment proceedings.  Ms. Stern works closely with local psychologists, mediators, drug and alcohol assessors, private investigators and other respected professionals in order to achieve the best results for her clients.  Her practice also largely focuses on complex issues regarding valuation and division of assets including but not limited to closely held businesses and large marital estates.

Ms. Stern counsels her clients regarding decisions with respect to selling or keeping the marital home, how to divide retirement accounts and closely works with them to be certain that each client will be in the best possible financial situation at the end of the case.  Ms. Stern keeps abreast of the ever changing laws that often affect her clients.

Ms. Stern earned her law degree from Wayne State University where she was a member of the Moot Court.  She received her Bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University in 1991 where she graduated with high honors.  Ms. Stern worked at both the Michigan Attorney General’s Office and the Michigan Court of Appeals while attending law school.  Ms. Stern is a periodic speaker to new attorneys and divorce resource groups on topics of family law.

Ms. Stern is a member of the Michigan, Oakland and Wayne County Bar Associations.  She was voted Best Divorce Attorney by readers of Hour Magazine in 2010 and attends  and volunteers for various community outreach programs through Temple Israel, West Bloomfield.
