Chuck Steines advises large and moderate-sized companies on a wide variety of multistate tax matters, with emphasis on planning for acquisitions, dispositions, and corporate reorganizations. He has a great deal of experience representing major corporations in state tax audits throughout the United States. He also has significant tax litigation experience, having defended the interests of Firm clients in trial and appellate courts in the U.S., including courts in California, Connecticut, Illinois, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Tennessee. Current clients include American Greetings, Bridgestone/Firestone, DaimlerChrysler, General Electric, General Motors, National City Bank, Newell Rubbermaid, and Penton Media.
Chuck has been a member of the American Bar Association, Section of Taxation, serving as a former chairman of the Annual Reports Committee and the Important Development Subcommittee of the Natural Resources Committee. He is a member of the Ohio State Bar Association, Taxation Committee and serves as chairman of the Income and Franchise Tax Subcommittee.
Chuck regularly writes and speaks around the country on state tax issues. He is a member of the editorial board and a contributing author to the Journal of Multi-State Taxation and the author of the audit and assessment chapter of Matthew Bender's Ohio State Taxation Treatise.
