In his employment litigation practice, Greg represents a number of high-profile clients and closely held businesses in the Twin Cities. He counsels on discipline and discharge issues, litigation assessment and litigation cost analyses, and serves as a corporate trainer on issues such as litigation prevention, as well as sexual harassment awareness and prevention. Greg is experienced in conducting internal corporate investigations on a broad range of issues.
Greg has litigated cases in state and federal court and in jurisdictions outside of Minnesota. He has argued cases before the Minnesota state and federal district courts, the Minnesota Court of Appeals, the Minnesota Supreme Court, the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals, the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals, the U.S. District Court for the districts of Arizona, Arkansas, Iowa, Michigan, Ohio, Tennessee and Virginia. In addition, he has represented employers in cases appealed to the U.S. Supreme Court. Greg frequently prepares responses to charges brought before the Minnesota Department of Human Rights and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
Along with other members of the Briggs Employment Law Group, Greg has been involved in a number of groundbreaking cases and affirmations of employer rights in the courts. He is listed in The Best Lawyers in America. He has been listed in Minnesota Super Lawyers, and Minnesota Law & Politics named him one of the top 40 employment lawyers in Minnesota. He has also been named to Chambers USA's list of “America's Leading Business Lawyers.”
Greg is a member of the Minnesota State and Federal Bar associations, and is admitted to practice before all Minnesota state and federal courts, the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals, the U.S. Supreme Court and various other federal courts. He currently serves as chair of the William Mitchell College of Law board of trustees.
Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Greg was an honors graduate of the University of Minnesota and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. He received his law degree cum laude from William Mitchell College of Law and was editor-in-chief of the William Mitchell Law Review. Greg served as a law clerk for the Honorable Edward J. Devitt of the U.S. District Court of Minnesota. He received his M.B.A. from the Carlson School of Management and was elected to Beta Gamma Sigma. Greg joined Briggs in 1983.
