Deanna Johnston's practice focuses on general business and commercial, labor and employment, product liability, and tort litigation. She has extensive experience in complex, multiparty litigation in state and federal courts with cases involving commercial and business disputes, including those asserting claims for breach of contract, breach of duty of good faith and fair dealing and other implied covenants, and other types of complex business litigation. She has litigated a variety of cases involving fraud, unfair advertising, unfair business practices, and California Business and Professions Code, Section 17200. In addition, Deanna practices employment litigation defending employers against claims for wrongful termination, employment discrimination, and sexual harassment.
Deanna's representative matters include representation of: a national natural foods grocery store in commercial litigation involving violation of state and federal regulations and unfair business practices; a national automotive company in a dispute alleging discrimination and harassment in the workplace; a national communications company involving misappropriation of confidential and proprietary company information by former employee; a large collection agency in dispute alleging violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and unfair business practices claims; and a former window manufacturer in over 75 product liability matters.
Deanna authored an article for the Journal of Insurance Coverage entitled "A Primer of Applying Insurance Policy Language to Additional Insureds in the Construction Industry in California." She is admitted to practice before all the state and federal courts in California, including the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeal.
