Vanessa Spiro has practiced for more than 20 years in finance, with substantial experience in leveraged lending. She represents financial institutions and other entities in connection with acquisition financings, syndicated lending, investment-grade lending, real estate finance, and cash flow and asset-based transactions. She also has significant experience in restructurings, workouts, distressed debt matters, and debtor-in-possession and exit financings.

Her finance experience is in a broad range of industries, including energy, steel, coal, retail/luxury retail, auto suppliers, gaming, major league sports, media, aluminum, real estate and REITS, and consumer products. Financial institutions that Vanessa has represented include Bank of America, Jefferies Finance, Lehman Brothers, The Toronto-Dominion Bank, Wachovia and, prior to joining Jones Day, Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce and Citibank. She also represents private equity firms, sovereign wealth funds, and hedge funds in various finance matters, including Aurora Capital Group, The Carlyle Group, Goode Partners LLC, Patriarch Partners, Pershing Square Capital Management, Temasek, and WL Ross & Co.

Vanessa has been listed in Who's Who of American Women and Who's Who of American Lawyers. She has been quoted by numerous media outlets and has appeared on Bloomberg Television to discuss loan market conditions. She is a member of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York and the American Bar Association.
