Beverly P. Spearman, a native of St. Louis, Missourri, is a 2001 graduate of the University of New Mexico School of Law. During law school, Mrs. Spearman served two years on the New Mexico Law Review, with one year as an Editor. In 2001, Mrs. Spearman received the Johnnie L. Cochran Scholarship for her contributions to the African-American community in New Mexico and upon graduation received the Dean’s Award for her outstanding contributions to the law school.
Before embarking upon a legal career, Mrs. Spearman practiced for seven years as a Registered Nurse specializing in the area of Obstretrics, including High Risk OB, Labor & Delivery, Postpartum, Newborn Nursery, and Neonatal Intensive Care. As a Registered Nurse, Mrs. Spearman spent four years practicing and living on the Navajo reservation in Arizona. Mrs. Spearman possesses undergraduate degrees in Nursing (1991) and Biology (1998) from St. Louis University.
Mrs. Spearman joined the firm in August 2001 after sitting the Illinois Bar Exam and has since been admitted to practice law in both the state and federal courts. Mrs. Spearman focuses her practice on representing plaintiffs injured due to medical negligence. As a malpractice lawyer, she has litigated and won multi-million dollar awards for her clients. This is due to her in-depth understanding of medicine and hospital procedures and her ability to quickly and successfully navigate through the complex health care system. Mrs. Spearman continues to write and speak on health care issues, with topics ranging from Nursing and the Law to HIPPA in a Nutshell.
