Spencer, Amanda L.

José is active in all aspects of intellectual property law, with particular emphasis on patent strategy, preparation and licensing in the electrical and mechanical arts. He has substantial experience both in-house and outside council and in general management and international sales management. José graduated from Northwestern University in 1979 with a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering. Mr. Jimenez received his Juris Doctorate from John Marshall Law School in 1982 and received a Masters in Business Administration in 1996 from the J. L Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University.

Prior to joining Larkin Hoffman, José was with Patterson, Thuente and Sklaar. Prior to that, he was a partner with Crawford & Maunu in St. Paul where he was engaged in patent prosecution and client counseling for clients in electrical and electronic related technologies. José was IP counsel for Motorola, Inc.’s Base Stations and Microwave divisions from 1987 to 1988 and later served as IP counsel for Square D Company’s Distribution Equipment division. José was also IP and Trademark counsel for GTE Service Corporation’s Lighting and Telecommunications divisions from 1984 to 1987.

José commercial experience includes general manager of Square D Centroamericana in San Jose, Costa Rica and marketing manager for International Projects. While with AMP, Inc., a connectors division of Tyco International, José was quality director of the PC Division and sales manager for Latin America for the Communications Division.

José is admitted to practice in both Minnesota and Illinois; and is licensed to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Mr. Jimenez is also fluent in Spanish and is Treasurer of the Minnesota Hispanic Bar Association.
