Daniel Jacob leads the firm’s health care and life sciences practice group. His diverse background combines his knowledge of intellectual property law with substantial experience in clinical health care, medical device technology, and computer science. Mr Jacob’s group represents a diverse range of industries, including entertainment, pharmaceuticals, finance, software, gaming and retail clients in all aspects of practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. He provides focused, strategic legal counsel across the areas of intellectual property and technology transactions involving licensing, trademarks, copyrights, software, trade secrets and false advertising.
He understands the unique timing, disclosure, intellectual property and regulatory issues that clients often face and helps steer clients through the legal and other requirements necessary to promptly and efficiently achieve their objectives. In collaboration with other specialized affiliates, Mr. Jacob advises clients on transactions that include strategic alliances, collaborations, in- and out-licensing, manufacturing and supply arrangements, marketing, promotion and distribution arrangements, royalty interest sales, as well as technology aspects of spin-offs and acquisitions and divestitures of product lines and divisions.
His extensive travel to India on business-related matters provides critical guidance when selecting and retaining appropriate Indian counsel with relevant experience in international transactions. Additionally, Mr. Jacob is well-versed on privacy-related matters, including compliance with the Privacy Rule and Security Rule of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) as well as The Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH).
