S. Stewart Smith is a partner in Belkin Burden Wenig & Goldman, LLP having joined the firm in 2002. Mr. Smith's areas of practice include: administrative, bankruptcy, real property and foreclosure law.

Mr. Smith is a member of the New York State and Connecticut Bar Associations and is admitted to practice before the Federal Courts of the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York. He earned his Juris Doctor from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law and a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Emerson College in Boston, Massachusetts.

Mr. Smith handles a myriad of matters concerning creditor's rights, rent regulatory, demolition/construction, real property and foreclosure issues at both the administrative and judicial levels. Mr. Smith has extensive experience in representing the interests of Landlord's, Cooperative and Condominium Boards and financial institutions in bankruptcy proceedings. Mr. Smith has also represented commercial and residential property owners in various proceedings before the New York State Division of Housing and Community Renewal, the New York State Division of Human Rights, the New York City Loft Board, the New York City Commission on Human Rights, the Department of Housing Preservation and Development of the City of New York, the New York City Environmental Control Board and the New York City Office of Administrative Trials and Hearings. He has litigated before the New York State and Connecticut Courts as well as the Federal District and Bankruptcy Courts.

Prior to joining BBWG, Mr. Smith had a wide range of experience in both the private and public sectors representing clients in the areas of landlord/tenant, co-op/condo, labor, construction, agricultural, entertainment, trusts and estates, bankruptcy, creditor's rights, as well as transactional and appellate practice.
