Patrick Ivy is an associate in the corporate department, focusing his practice on the oil and gas industry. He has drafted more than 100 drilling title opinions analyzing ownership of surface and mineral estates, non-participating royalty interests, working interests, overriding royalty interests, and net revenue interests. Mr. Ivy has examined the title implications of thousands of documents, including mineral leases, assignments of mineral and working interests, unit declarations, farmout agreements, joint operating agreements, area of mutual interest agreements, deeds, wills, trusts, easements, and encumbrances.

Mr. Ivy’s recent experience includes:

• Assisted with preparation of two division order title opinions, each with fragmented mineral ownership involving more than 100 lessors.
• Assisted with drafting an area of mutual interest and asset purchase agreement covering $77 million of leased acreage and a ground lease for the construction of a large solar power plant. 
• Drafted legal analysis for a response to a Daubert challenge. 
• Researched and authored legal memoranda concerning diverse legal issues, including the deduction of post-production costs from lessor royalty under Colorado law, Delaware corporate duration, and compulsory pooling in Arkansas.

Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Ivy was an intern for the Honorable William Wayne Justice in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas.
