Smith is a 1988 graduate of Saint Louis University School of Law and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in occupational education from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, Illinois. Smith is licensed to practice in Illinois and Missouri and is a member of the United States District Courts of Central and Southern Illinois. He is a member of the American Bar Association, the Missouri Bar and the Madison County (Illinois) Bar Association. Prior to joining Herzog Crebs in 2001, Smith was a solo practitioner focusing on personal injury and medical malpractice cases and also practiced with the law firm of Bernard & Davidson in Granite City, Illinois.
