Lewis B. Insler is a founding partner of Insler & Hermann, LLP, and represents claimants in Social Security Disability, Long Term Disability, New York State Employee Retirement, and related disability claims. After graduating from Albany Law School in 1979 he worked as an associate and partner for 17 years in disability law, forming his own law firm in 1996. After several years working with Gabriel Hermann, in 2003, he and Gabe became partners and formed Insler & Hermann, LLP.
Lew has represented thousands of Social Security Disability claimants successfully, as well as Long Term Disability claims, both under ERISA and privately purchased long-term disability policies. He is recognized throughout the legal community for his experience, compassion, and expertise, and is often sought out by other members of the Bar for advice.
Lew is admitted to practice in New York State and in the Federal District Courts for the Southern and Northern Districts of New York. He is a member of the American Bar Association, New York State Bar Association, Westchester and Dutchess County Bar Associations, and the Northern Westchester Bar Association. Lew is a Sustaining Member of the National Association of Social Security Claimants Representatives (NOSSCR), and he attends the NOSSCR conferences regularly. Lew is also a certified Arbitrator for FINRA (Financial Industry Regulatory Authority).
Lew speaks often to legal groups, disability-related organizations and the general public on the topics of Disability Law. He has appeared on the “Sayegh Advice” radio show, sponsored by the Sayegh Law Firm of Carmel, New York, providing advice on winning a disability claim.
In his free time Lew enjoys outdoor activities and Bruce Springsteen concerts. He has appeared as a contestant on Jeopardy! Lew and his wife Shelly live in Westchester County with their two sons.
