Christian Hylton is a partner in the Land Use and Government Relations practice at Abrams Fensterman. Mr. Hylton’s practice involves matters relating to land use, including zoning and economic development, as well as commercial and residential real estate. In addition, Mr. Hylton has had significant experience in the areas of legislative procedure and protocol, trusts and estates, the non-profit sector, and labor and employment.

Mr. Hylton was a Legislative Attorney and Director and Legal Counsel to the New York City Council, including General Counsel to its Zoning and Land Use Committee. He has worked in private practice focusing on the areas of real estate, trusts and estates and as a consultant to several government agencies and elected officials regarding land use and economic development. Additionally, Mr. Hylton’s professional experience also includes positions at the U.S. Department of the Interior, George Washington University, the New York City Transit Authority, and the Alpha & Omega Law Chambers in Bridgetown, Barbados.

Mr. Hylton received his J.D. from Howard University School of Law with honors, where he was a research assistant at the school’s Criminal Justice Clinic, member of the Moot Court Team and was president of the Association for Caribbean-American Students. He received his B.A in Political Science from Regents College, the University of the State of New York. Mr. Hylton is admitted to practice in New York State, and is a member of the New York State Bar Association and the Screen Actors’ Guild.

Christian has been active in the Flatbush community for many years, serving on the Neighborhood Advisory Board and a board member of the Flatbush Development Corporation. He is a board member of St. Mark’s Head Start and has been active in the Church of the Nativity (Anglican), in Brooklyn, New York for twenty years. He is a past member of the Diocesan Council and currently serves on the Committee on Canons for the Diocese of Long Island. He co-founded The Young Barbadian Professionals Society (YBPS) a scholarship, philanthropic and social organization for Caribbean students and professionals in the United States.
