IRINA SLAVINA is an associate at Edelson and a member of the banking and financial services practice group. Irina focuses her practice on complex nationwide class actions against large banks and financial institutions.

Irina successfully prosecuted numerous home equity line of credit suspension cases against major banks that resulted in industry-changing nationwide settlements. In addition, Irina helped secure the landmark 7th Circuit Court of Appeals decision in Wigod v. Wells Fargo Bank, N.A., which was the first appellate decision to hold that borrowers may sue banks for breach of contract and fraud in response to HAMP loan modification abuses. Finally, Irina has extensive experience representing plaintiffs in both state and federal courts in other consumer, employment and technology cases.

Prior to Edelson, Irina worked in the legal department of a major gaming and entertainment company assisting General Counsel with contract drafting and negotiation and all aspects of corporate governance and compliance.

Irina earned her J.D. from Chicago-Kent College of Law with High Honors, Order of Coif, in 2009 and LL.M in International Law, with High Honors, in 2003. While in law school, Irina represented Chicago-Kent in the McGee National Civil Rights Moot Court Competition. Irina was also a member of the Chicago-Kent Law Review, and her student note on the issue of a casino liability to problem gambles was published in the March 2010 issue, 85 Chi.-Kent L. Rev. 369. Irina externed for the Honorable Susan E. Cox in the Northern District of Illinois, and earned the CALI award for obtaining the highest grade in Constitutional Law, Evidence, and Legal Writing III courses.

Irina is admitted to practice law in Illinois (2009) and in Russia (2001).
