Erin Hutnick joined Briglia Hundley Nuttall & Lopez, P.C. in June of 2011. Her practice is focused on criminal defense, civil litigation, and domestic relations. Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Hutnick served for over three years as an Assistant Public Defender for Fairfax County. While there, she defended both adult and juvenile clients charged with crimes ranging from misdemeanor and traffic offenses to felonies including larceny, fraud, burglary, malicious assault and murder. She also acquired significant appellate experience, handling cases before the Virginia Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court of Virginia. Prior to joining the Public Defender’s Office, Ms. Hutnick worked as a law clerk for the Commonwealth’s Attorney in the City of Alexandria.
Ms. Hutnick was raised in Fairfax County, Virginia and attended Paul VI High School. She was awarded both academic and soccer scholarships to Siena College and graduated magna cum laude in 2004, winning both the Award for Excellence in Major Fields (Economics) and the Outstanding Academic Athlete Award. Ms. Hutnick is a graduate of George Mason University School of Law, where she was Vice President of the Women’s Law Association. During law school, Ms. Hutnick served as a judicial intern for the Superior Court of the District of Columbia, and she participated in the Domestic Relations Legal Clinic where she assisted indigent clients with divorce cases.
Ms. Hutnick is licensed to practice law in Virginia and is a member of the Virginia Bar Association and the Fairfax Bar Association.
