Larry C. Hunter has 34 years of trial experience in several fields of practice. He is licensed to practice before the state courts of Texas, the Eastern District of Texas, the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States Supreme Court. In 2002, he appeared before the United States Supreme Court in a firearm rights case.
After graduation from the University of Houston School of Law, Hunter practiced in Orange County, Texas, and became a partner in Hahn & Hunter, until 1984. Hunter continued to practice law primarily as a solo practitioner until 2003, when he formed Hunter Burch, L.L.P., a general practice law firm with emphasis in personal injury, family law, probate and business litigation.
Hunter joined the Provost Umphrey Law Firm, L.L.P. in 2011. He is a member of the American Bar Association, the State Bar of Texas, the Jefferson County Bar Association, the Orange County Bar Association, and the Texas Trial Lawyers Association. He has represented the Orange County Water Control & Improvement District No. 1 since 1982 as general counsel. He has been a Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation since 1996, and has served on the Board of Directors of the American Red Cross Orange County Chapter since 2002 and as a member of the Board of Directors of the Sabine Chapter of Ducks Unlimited since 1986.
Hunter has been elected and served in the past as a local mayor, school board trustee, and director and president of a water district in Orange County, Texas.
