Katelyn Hufe joined Hogan & Vandenberg, LLC as an associate in March of 2012. She is a member in good standing of the Pennsylvania Bar and the New Jersey Bar. Katelyn focuses her practice exclusively on immigration law but also has experience in the area of family law.

Katelyn completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Delaware where she majored in Foreign Languages and Literature with a concentration in Spanish, Italian and French. She graduated magna cum laude from the University’s Honors Program. During the course of her undergraduate career, Katelyn completed study abroad programs in Granada, Spain and Naples, Italy. She was inducted into the Gamma Kappa Alpha Italian Honors Society and received a Certificate of Merit from the Italian Consulate of Philadelphia for excellence in Italian.

After graduating from the University of Delaware in 2007, Katelyn worked as a bilingual paralegal at Doroshow, Pasquale, Krawitz, and Bhaya in Wilmington, Delaware. She worked with Spanish-speaking clients in the Workers Compensation and Personal Injury departments.

Katelyn studied at the Earle Mack School of Law at Drexel University from 2008 through 2011, graduating cum laude in 2011. She focused her coursework at Drexel in areas such as Immigration Law, Refugee and Asylum Law, and Immigration Litigation. She joined the New York City Bar Association’s Immigration and Nationality Committee under the supervision of Professor Anil Kalhan and had the opportunity to present on comprehensive immigration reform. She completed a yearlong pro bono project at HIAS and Council Migration Service in her second year, where she assisted with special immigrant juvenile adjustment of status cases.

Throughout her final year at Drexel, Katelyn interned for the Executive Office for Immigration Review at Philadelphia Immigration Court. She drafted decisions for the immigration judges on topics such as asylum, fraud, I-601 waivers, crimes involving moral turpitude and adjustment of status. She had the opportunity to work with each immigration judge and the Court’s judicial law clerk.

After graduating from Drexel, Katelyn was accepted into the 2011-2012 Law Clerk Program at Berner, Klaw, and Watson, LLP in Philadelphia. She worked primarily on family law cases involving divorce, support, custody, and protection from abuse orders. She had the opportunity to prepare an international adoption petition and to research international laws and treaties as they related to international divorce and custody cases. She also researched immigration-related family law matters such as the applicability of the I-864 Affidavit of Support in spousal support cases and presented at a joint meeting of the Family Law Section and the Immigration Law Committee of the Philadelphia Bar Association.

Katelyn is an active member of the Philadelphia Chapter of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA), the Philadelphia Bar Association, and the Pennsylvania Bar Association.
