Silver, Tracy Brooks

Sharon Siegel, MD/JD is one of a handful of MD/JD's practicing law in California. She is a board certified cardiothoracic surgeon as well as a practicing attorney. Dr. Siegel practiced medicine for 25 years before beginning a career in law.

Dr. Siegel graduated from Freeport High School, Freeport, New York as Valedictorian after her junior year. She attended Hofstra University on a full academic scholarship graduating summa cum laude with a degree in chemistry in three years. She was awarded admission to the Medical Scientist Training Program (M.D./PhD.), at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. She spent nearly two years doing research, including two summers training at the Marine Biological Lab at Woods Hole, Massachusetts.

Dr. Siegel graduated from Medical School in 1979 and stayed at Albert Einstein for five years of training in the general surgery internship and residency program, which she completed in 1984.  Particularly interested in the cardiovascular system, she continued her training at Long Island Jewish Medical Center where she completed her cardiothoracic residency training in 1986.  Dr. Siegel is board certified in both general and thoracic surgery. Dr. Siegel practiced medicine as a cardiothoracic surgeon predominantly in Northern California. During her years in training and practice, Dr. Siegel continued to do research, publish papers in peer review journals and present her work at society meetings.

In 1998, Dr. Siegel began law school at Santa Clara University School of Law, in the part time evening program, while she continued to practice medicine by day. Dr. Siegel graduated from law school and passed the California Bar Exam in the summer of 2003.

After being represented by the firm, Dr. Siegel joined Rummonds & Mair as Of Counsel in the Spring of 2010. She participates with other members of the firm in all phases of medical malpractice litigation. Dr. Siegel is available for consultation and review of medical malpractice cases on a PRN basis.
