Bruce E. Hood regularly represents clients on taxation matters at the federal, state and local levels. His principal areas of practice are international, real estate, corporate and partnership taxation. He has advised clients on taxable and tax-free mergers and acquisitions, partnership formation and restructuring, preimmigration tax planning, tax-free exchanges of real estate and REIT formation and operation. Mr. Hood also has extensive experience in FIRPTA planning and compliance and all types of matters pertaining to income tax treaties. He has spoken at seminars on the subject of international taxation and has published several articles on related topics.
Mr. Hood was a partner at Howe & Addington LLP prior to Howe & Addington's merger with Wiggin and Dana. Previously, he was associated with the firm of Davis Polk & Wardwell.
Mr. Hood graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University (B.A. summa cum laude) and the University of South Carolina (J.D. cum laude), where he served on the editorial staff of the South Carolina Law Review. He received an LL.M. in taxation from New York University Law School.
